Railways increase security in response to a terrorist uptick. In response to a rise in terrorism, the Pakistan Railways has tightened security in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Sukkur, Quetta, Peshawar, and Multan on the orders of CEO Farrukh Teymour.

All stations, trains, buildings, washing lines, and sick lines have been made safer, and a control room has been set up to keep a sight on everything. At the entrances and exits of all of the train stations, police officers and office workers, both men and women, have been put in place.

Irfan Ashraf, who is in charge of the Lahore Railways Police Station House Officer (SHO), has shut down all the illegal paths around the train stations. Now, people can only get into the stations after going through walk-through gates and metal detectors.

Sources say that on the CEO’s orders, female police officers have been sent to the platforms to check the belongings of women, children, and the elderly.

The government has also started using CCTV cameras on platforms and around stations to keep an eye on unattended items and suspicious people. The people in the control room will tell the police on duty about anything that seems odd.

Sources said that police commandos will also walk through the trains to keep people safe.

The government has also decided that only passengers will be allowed inside the station.

CEO Teymour said, “Safe and comfortable travel is one of the department’s top priorities, and the Railways Police has been told to make strict security arrangements for that purpose.”

He said that police commandos would watch over the platforms and trains in case anything bad happened. He also told them to watch out for people who seemed odd.

FWO builds a temporary steel bridge connecting Hassanabad. The link between the central and upper Hunza regions has been fixed by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), which built a temporary steel bridge.

The permanent bridge, which was destroyed by a flood caused by the Shisper glacier’s Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), can be used by light to medium traffic on the new bridge.

It will take six to eight months to rebuild the permanent bridge.

After the event, the area around Hassanabad was cut off from the rest of the country.

Climate change is a real problem for Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif had heard about the GLOF and told the relevant authorities to take the necessary emergency steps right away to deal with the situation in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

PM Shehbaz also told officials to move affected families and their moveable belongings to safe areas and get food, medicine, and other emergency supplies to the area.

On May 16, the PM was in Islamabad for an emergency meeting on climate change. He was told about what was going on in G-B, where he had told the head of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to go to Hunza and rebuild the bridge that had fallen in the Shisper Glacier incident.

Due to the importance of the Karakorum Highway to the country and the need to help commuters, FWO teams were sent to the site to fix the link by installing a temporary steel bridge.

PM Shehbaz wants to make CPEC a “trilateral arrangement.” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif suggested on Friday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) become a “trilateral arrangement” between Turkey, Pakistan, and Turkey so that all three countries could benefit from it.

He said these things at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works, where the third MILGEM Corvette built by Turkey was being put into service. He was the main guest at the event. The prime minister came to the big city this morning for a one-day visit.

“With the growth of financial and industrial activities, trade activities could grow by a huge amount. With Gwadar as its centER, the CPEC project, which is still going on, will help us reach our goals of improving regional connections and increasing trade.

“I’d like to use this chance to suggest that CPEC be a deal between Turkey, Pakistan, and China, and that we all take advantage of its great potential to help our countries,” he said, assuring the other people there that the government was committed to building up maritime infrastructure.

At the start of his speech, PM Shehbaz praised the launch of the warship that was built with the help of a Turkish company. He also liked what Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Navy Chief Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi did.

“This is yet another great example of Pakistan and Turkey working together under the very able and dynamic leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is not only a great brother and friend but also a great supporter of Pakistan’s cause. Under his leadership, our brotherly relations have reached much higher heights than before.”

The prime minister went on to say that the people could see how well Pakistan and Turkey were working together in all areas. He also said again that relations could be strengthened even more for the good of both countries.

PM Shehbaz said that today’s launch would make the ties between the Pakistan Navy and Turkish companies even stronger. “There will come a time when these ships and even bigger ones will be made with Turkish know-how and technology, as well as Pakistan’s own design program and ship plans.”

Again congratulating the naval chief and his team, he went on to say that Pakistan had a long coastline and a resource-rich maritime zone. He also said that maritime activities were currently centered on Karachi’s ports.

In a video message, the president of Turkey said that his country wanted to share its knowledge about defence with Pakistan. He said that the MILGEM project was an example of this.

He said that Pakistan was in a good spot in South Asia and that the Turkish people had a lot of respect for the country and its people. He said that, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the MILGEM project was done on time and without any problems.

Erdogan said, “These ships are equipped with the most advanced weapons and sensors.” He said he hoped that this would help strengthen ties between the two countries.

The Turkish defence minister spoke at the ceremony to mark the start of the project. He said that building ships under the project would help Pakistan’s military and contribute to peace and stability in the region and around the world.

He talked about the ships that will be built as part of the project and emphasized how important it is to have a “strong defence industry” and “effective and intimidating armed forces.” In this context, he also talked about how important technological independence was. He said, “I think we will help increase the number of these projects, which are important for both the security of our countries and their technological independence.”

“Under the leadership of President Erdogan, Turkey has made big steps forward in almost every area, especially in the defence industry,” he said, adding, “We are ready to share our experiences and defence industry products with our friends and partners.”

The defence minister said that Pakistanis have a special place in the hearts of Turkish people, and that “with the strength we get from the brotherly ties between our countries, we will keep working hard to bring our relations to high levels.”

“These ships will strengthen the ties of friendship, cooperation, and brotherhood between our countries and the sea power of the Pakistan Navy,” Akar said in closing.

Gwadar's 300MW coal plant will end the energy shortage by 2023

Gwadar’s 300MW coal plant will end the energy shortage by 2023

Gwadar’s 300MW coal plant will end the energy shortage by 2023. By October 2023, when the 300 megawatts (MW) coal-fired power plant is finished, the port city of Gwadar will no longer have to deal with the problems caused by a lack of energy.

Under Gwadar’s 2050 Master Plan, the 300MW coal-fired Gwadar Power Plant would be able to meet the needs of about 150,000 local people by the end of 2023. This was revealed by an official source who shared new information about the project.

He also said that one of the most important energy projects in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a power plant for an independent power producer.

The Gwadar project: NEPRA sets prices for a 300MW coal-powered power plant

The aim of the project was to make the local power supply more reliable. This would help solve the problems with economic growth and building cities in the Gwadar region, which are being held back by a lack of power.

“Right now, diesel generators cost us millions of dollars a year to use to make electricity. I hope that the plant will be running soon so that the port won’t have to worry about not having enough power.

The power plant is very important for deepening China and Pakistan’s energy cooperation, boosting the Belt and Road Initiative, improving Balochistan’s overall power structure, and boosting economic growth in Gwadar Port.

All of the major CPEC projects in Gwadar, such as the Gwadar Power Plant, the New Gwadar International Airport Project, the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital, the China-Pakistan Technical and Vocational Institute in Gwadar, the Gwadar East-bay Expressway Project, the Gwadar Free Zone, and the Gwadar Port, would become a shining pearl in the area.

345 buildings were identified as being potentially hazardous in Rawalpindi

Around 345 buildings in the Rawalpindi district have been deemed dangerous by the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation, the Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards, the Auqaf Department and the District Council.

The people who live in these old buildings, some more than 100 years old, have been told to leave before the monsoon rains start.

As the pre-monsoon season is coming up, the authorities have sent red notices to the owners and tenants of old multi-story buildings that have been deemed dangerous, telling them to leave by June 10.

Read more with EL news : Approval of the revised Malir Expressway alignment

Since the 1960s, six to eight families have paid low rents to live in these multi-story buildings. Unfortunately, when it rains hard, the roofs of these buildings start to leak, and when there is a small earthquake, the whole building shakes and trembles.

These two- to three-story buildings were built before Pakistan was even a country.

Areas in which these buildings are located include Bhabhra Bazaar, Urdu Bazaar, Trunk Bazaar, Old Fort, Shah Chan Chirag, Mohalla Niaryan, Raja Bazaar, Mohanpura, Dungi Khoi, Linda Bazaar, Chittian Hattian, Moti Bazaar, Ghazni Road, Pul Shah Nazar, Ganj Mandi, Qadeem Saddar, Lal Karti, Adara, Westridge, Tinch Bhatta, Nala Lei Kinara, Teli Mohalla, Waris Khan, Kartarpura, Bagh Sardaran and Lal Haveli.

In Mughal Sarai and Raja Bazaar, there are also big old shops and markets.

Two tenants have also gone to court to try to get rid of these notices. Many of these dilapidated buildings are also owned by the Auqaf department. The department receives a small amount of rent, between Rs500 and Rs1,000.

If one of them becomes available, the new rent, based on the market, could be up to Rs30,000. Because the rents are so low, the people who live there are putting their lives at risk to save money and not leave.

When it rains hard, the people who live there lock their doors and stay with relatives in the city.

Most years, during the monsoon, one or two buildings fall.

The Auqaf department says that it can only fix the buildings when the people who live in them move out.
