Mahmood directs the removal of encroachments near rivers. Mahmood Khan, the Peshawar division’s chief minister, asked appropriate officials on Monday to remove encroachments around rivers and canals in various sections of the division within a month.

According to a statement issued here, he presided over a conference convened to assess the Peshawar division’s development projects.

Members of parliament from Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera districts, and the Peshawar commissioner, and other senior officials attended the meeting.

According to the statement, after receiving complaints from lawmakers about encroachments along rivers and waterways in certain areas, the chief minister directed the Peshawar commissioner and public health engineering department to conduct an operation to remove all such encroachments within a month.

They informed the conference that highlighted 62 public and development issues during the previous meeting regarding the Peshawar division, of which 25 were resolved, and 30 were in progress. But, unfortunately, seven were delayed due to technical reasons.

Mr. Khan recommended that all provincial ministers convene a monthly meeting with district MPAs and take meaningful steps to fix departmental issues.

To enhance sanitation services in Nowshera and Charsadda, the chief minister asked the local government department to submit viable ideas for setting up units similar to the Water Supply and Sanitation Company in both districts.

Additionally, he decided to convene a separate meeting to address power-related difficulties in various regions of Peshawar.

He directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s chief executive officer and other key officials to ensure their attendance at the meeting. The removal of encroachments near rivers should be removed as soon as possible.

The chief minister asked the health department to design and submit a preliminary construction plan (PC-I) to renovate the Children’s Hospital Peshawar. Mahmood directs the removal of encroachments near rivers.
