Shared development status of the New Balakot City Project

Shared development status of the New Balakot City Project. The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, told the National Assembly (NA) on Thursday that 30 percent of the work on New Balakot City is done.

During the question and answer part of the meeting, the minister said that the federal government had given PKR 1.5 billion to the KP government in 2007 to buy land for the project. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the PKR 12,000 million PC-1 of the New Balakot City development project.

Minister Abbasi said that PKR 2,969,000,000 was given to the project and used. He said that the KP government is responsible for the other 70 percent of the job. The minister says that the project is being held up by a lack of property free of liens, a lack of cash, and local opposition.
