75% of development work done on the Lahore Bridge expansion project. News sources said on August 9 that the Lahore Bridge expansion project at the Qainchi intersection of Ferozpur Road is 75% done and will be ready for traffic in September. The project costing PKR 1,711 billion is part of the Gulab Devi underpass. Reports say that the bridge’s construction was delayed because Pakistan Railways took too long to give the No-Objection certificate (NOC) (PR).

Due to the delay in getting the NOC, work on driving piles and launching girders to cross the railroad tracks at the junction had to stop. Project Concept-1 (PC-1) says that LDA must build a two-lane flyover in addition to the existing flyover to handle the growing amount of traffic. When the flyover is finished, it will be easier to get from Kalma Chowk to Gujjumata and Kasur. Also, the project manager told the reporters that work would start up again as soon as the Sui gas and electricity lines were moved away from the construction site.
The LDA started four major projects to improve the city: the Sheranwala Gate flyover, the Shahkam flyover, the Gulab Devi Underpass project, and the Lahore Bridge project. The other three projects have been finished, but the work on the Lahore Bridge has stopped.
