The construction of Ammar Chowk is well underway

The construction of Ammar Chowk is well underway. Nadeem Ahmed Abro, Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), paid a visit to the Ammar Chowk project to inspect the progress of the ongoing development work.

The project team notified the MD. The project has been on hold for the past 12 years, but now the Punjab government, with the assistance of the RDA and the Station Headquarters in Rawalpindi, has begun building on it. Construction is currently in full gear on the project’s development. The construction of Ammar Chowk is well underway.

In response to the growing population and increasing traffic congestion, the project has undergone some significant changes, including the addition of twin underpasses, the undergrounding of high-tension and low-tension cables, a new service line and the installation of a reinforced earth panel, among other things. In addition, efforts have been made to make the surrounding region more clean and green.

The workers have taken great care to ensure that people have the least amount of difficulties and do not have to worry about restricted mobility while the building work is underway.

After being asked about the timeline for the completion of the project, the project team stated that they hoped to have all of the development work at Ammar Chowk done by the end of the year. He said that, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the severe current rainy season, development work continues around the clock in the country.

However, due to recent increases in construction materials costs, technical and design revisions, up-gradation of numerous components, and additional work, it is now expected that the project will cost Rs1,307 million, an increase from the previous estimate of Rs754 million.
