KP receives Rs. 98 billion for five cities to strengthen municipal services

KP receives Rs. 98 billion for five cities to strengthen municipal services. According to our correspondents, on December 13th, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) would receive Rs. 98 billion to upgrade municipal services in five cities.

KP would receive Rs. 385 million for city improvement initiatives. Municipal services in Kohat, Mardan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Mingora will be enhanced. Additionally, money will be provided for the improvement of sewage and drainage systems, the development of green urban spaces, the development of water supply systems, and the provision of integrated solid waste management systems.

Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Secretary of the Local Government and Rural Development Department, announced that Rs. 98 billion would be spent over five years on municipal urban infrastructure, sewerage treatment plants, solid waste management, and water delivery.

Additionally, the ADB stated that the loan would benefit more than 3.5 million individuals. The public will have access to clean and safe drinking water, sanitation services, green urban spaces, and facilities that are gender-neutral. Additionally, about 150,000 houses will receive smart water metres as part of the new water supply system.
