CM Elahi said at the opening ceremony that the Shahkam Chowk Flyover is a three-lane, two-way bridge that will save people time and make driving easier. The news source said that 120,000 vehicles will be able to use the signal-free corridor every day. To keep law and order in the housing societies near Shahkam Chowk, he said, a patrolling post and a Rescue 1122 centre will be built.

The chief minister also said that work has begun on the projects for the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Central Business District (CBD). He also said that the Lahore Master Plan 2050 has been approved so that the city can deal with its growing population and traffic problems. The minister said that the current government will build a place where people can travel underground.
