ECNEC approves Khawazakhela-Besham Motorway, LHR Ring Road SL-3

Multiple development projects, including the Lahore Ring Road-Southern Loop and Khawazakhela-Besham Motorway, have been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in Islamabad, according to a July 19 report in a leading newspaper.

The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Ishaq Dar, presided over a meeting of the ECNEC. The following are the project specifications:
• Construction of the Lahore Ring Road-Southern Loop (SL-3) has been authorized at a cost of PKR 17,785,850,000,000. The initiative will be entirely funded by the Annual Development Program (ADP) of the Government of Punjab.
• Also authorized was the Prime Minister’s National Program for Solarisation Agriculture Tube Wells. The objective of this initiative is to solarize agricultural tube wells in multiple provinces, including Punjab, Sindh, KP, and Baluchistan.
• Construction of the 48-kilometer-long Khawazakhela-Besham Motorway at an estimated cost of 79,130,878 million PKR has been approved.
• The Pakistan Education Fund initiative intends to provide scholarships throughout Pakistan at an estimated cost of PKR 14 billion.

• The estimated expenditure for Phase-I of the 295-kilometer Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahawalnagar Motorway was approved at PKR 263,795,863 million.
• A budget allocation of PKR 16.8 billion has been approved for the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.
