A Board of Urban Regeneration will be established in several cities

An official from the Ministry of Housing and Works has said that he wants to set up an Urban Regeneration Board (URB) that will deal with state land in several cities, including Islamabad.

People who know the plans say that the new URB will have 14 members, and it will be led by the housing secretary. Clearing, development, regeneration, and redevelopment of state land in different cities will be done by the board. This is what the Urban Regeneration and Redevelopment Act-2021 says. The board will act as a government agent and have the power to lease, sublease, sell, and give out permission to use land.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the provincial governments were also given copies of the document, so they could read it as well. The planned board, says FGEHA Director of Planning Rizwan-ur-Rehman, will decide about land and property in different cities.
