CDA opens the Rawal Dam underpass to vehicular traffic

News sources say that on Saturday, October 15, the long-awaited Rawal Dam Underpass finally opened to traffic in Islamabad. This was done by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Captain (R) Muhammad Usman Younis, who is the head of the CDA, shared the news on his official Twitter account. He told people who go to and from Park Road and Murree Road to use the newly opened underpass that doesn’t need signals.

The underpass is part of the project to build the Rawal Dam Interchange. The Rawal Dam Flyover, which lets people get to and from the Pakistan Secretariat, as well as several slip roads, an underpass, an overhead bridge, and the Margalla Town Underpass, will be built as part of the project.

The project was supposed to be finished earlier this year, but that didn’t happen because the contract was given to Frontier Works Organisation instead (FWO). The delay was also partly caused by the fact that the cost of building materials went up.
