CDA will establish a transport wing for Islamabad’s Metro Bus Services

On December 15, news sources said that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had decided to set up an Islamabad Public Transport Wing to run the Metro Bus Service in the capital.

The new wing has been planned as a separate entity so that the National Highway Authority doesn’t have to take care of or manage public transportation facilities (NHA).

The Orange Line Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Morr to Islamabad International Airport (IIA), the Green Line from Bhara Kahu to PIMS Hospital, and the Blue Line from Koral Chowk to PIMS will all be run by the Islamabad Public Transport Wing. Also, CDA will add 13 feeder routes from different parts of the city to Metro bus routes.

The Engineering Division of the CDA has suggested that a deputy director general be put in charge of the wing’s operations, along with two directors: one for operational development and the other for infrastructure development. For operations, the wing will have field teams, and the civil and electrical divisions will send people to work on infrastructure.
