China is ready to work with Pakistan’s development strategy

On Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that China is ready to synergize its development strategy with Pakistan’s to help Islamabad keep its economy and finances stable.

During his regular briefing in Beijing, Spokesperson Zhao said that both countries had agreed to keep up their long-standing friendship and that they would never let any force hurt their strategic cooperative partnership.

The spokesperson also said that the two countries hoped to develop the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in a high-quality way while ensuring other important projects ran smoothly.

In response to a question, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said, “We will further deepen cooperation in industrial and other areas to boost Pakistan’s economic development and its economic resilience.”

He said that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari agreed to strengthen “our strategic cooperative partnerships and political cooperation.” He was talking about their virtual meeting on Wednesday.

“It is also the first official meeting between the two countries since Bilawal Bhutto Zardari became Foreign Minister,” he said. “Both of them agreed that China and Pakistan should keep up their long-standing friendship,” Zhao said.

He told reporters that during their first meeting since the new government in Pakistan took office, the two foreign ministers talked about how to make sure Chinese people and institutions in Pakistan are even safer.

“The foreign minister of Pakistan said again that Pakistan’s foreign policy is based on its friendship with China, which is also a strategic priority for Pakistan,” he said. “Despite political differences, everyone in Pakistan agreed that they should be friends with China.”

Zhao Lijian said that China and Pakistan would work together more in the real world in all areas. “China is ready to coordinate its development strategy with Pakistan’s to help Pakistan keep its economy and finances stable,” he said.

State Councillor Wang Yi said that a single incident would not change the long-standing friendship between the two countries. “With the efforts of both sides, our partnership will continue to grow with our long-standing friendship,” he said.
