Masterplan updates for RWP, GWA, BHP, RYK and other districts

Ibraheem Murad, Punjab’s local government and community minister, provided an update on the status of the master planning efforts for the province’s 11 largest districts on March 31, according to a news source.

According to the specifics, the maps for the 11 districts’ land use classification have been created and forwarded to the deputy commissioners for approval. Among the 11 districts are:

  • Gujranwala
  • Sahiwal
  • Rawalpindi
  • Sialkot \Khanewal
  • Okara \Vehari
  • Bahawalpur
  • Muzaffargarh
  • Muhammad Yar Khan
  • Ghazi Khan, Dera

In order to meet the province’s food needs, the minister emphasized during the meeting that agricultural land should be preserved and the area under cultivation must be conserved. Murad said that new housing projects shouldn’t be permitted in green spaces, which must be designated in masterplans.

The minister gave the appropriate authorities severe orders to stop any unauthorized housing developments. In order to encourage commerce and business, he also issued directions for the creation of economic corridors in certain districts.
