NHA approves annual maintenance budget

A news source said on February 14 that the National Highways Authority (NHA) Executive Board has approved the annual maintenance plan for 2022-2023, which will cost PKR 62.917 billion, and will carry forward liabilities from previous years, which will cost PKR 47.388 billion.

During the meeting, the NHA Executive Board said that the annual maintenance plan should be better planned and that the unawarded schemes should be combined into the next plan. The board has also told the NHA that it needs to change the Composite Schedule Rates (CSR) every year.

Also, the board has suggested that the Loan Agreement be valid for an extra 18 months, from November 1, 2022, to April 30, 2024. This recommendation will be sent to the Korean Exim Bank through the Economic Affairs Division.

The OM&M contract for the Mansehra Toll Plaza was approved by the NHA Executive Board (N-35). The Executive Board has asked the member to make a schedule for the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project and share it with the board. The members were told to start working on the project right away and to set up the Project Management Unit (PMU) at the NHA headquarters.

During the meeting, the board asked the relevant members to work with the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) to make a full report about encroachments, illegal access, and unnecessary U-turns on the Islamabad-Murree Dual Carriageway.
