The CDA has allocated PKR 20 billion for the construction of multiple new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, as detailed in the agency’s plans. These initiatives include the construction of 11th Avenue, the Serena Chowk Underpass, and the Shaheen Chowk Overpass, in addition to the widening of Lahtrar Road, Park Road, and Murree Road.

The news source reported that city managers are actively engaged in 100 billion PKR worth of ongoing development initiatives throughout the city. Chairman of the CDA Noorul Amin Mengal stated that completion of these initiatives is anticipated within the next two to three months. In addition, Mengal emphasised that 11th Avenue will be connected to Srinagar Highway and IJP Road, and that the patchwork on Islamabad Motorway will shortly be finished.

In an endeavour to reduce traffic congestion, Mengal revealed plans to eliminate traffic signals along the route from Serena Chowk to Kashmir and Murree. In addition, the CDA intends to eliminate traffic signals on Margalla Road. The construction of a dual carriageway over Shaheen Chowk is on the agenda for upcoming developments. In addition, additional lanes will be added to Park Road and Lahtrar Road during the 2023-24 fiscal year.

With the allocation of considerable funds and the construction of multiple new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, the CDA intends to improve the city’s infrastructure and traffic management system, thereby facilitating more efficient transportation and enhancing connectivity.
