Karachi Mayor, Netherlands Envoy discuss joint development

According to August 3 news reports, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab recently met with Netherlands Ambassador Henny Fokel de Vries at the headquarters of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.

During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed the potential benefits of Dutch experience and technology for development initiatives in Pakistan, particularly Karachi.

During the meeting, both parties focused on issues of mutual interest and methods to strengthen the bilateral relationship. Mayor Wahab cordially greeted the ambassador and acknowledged the positive evolution of relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands over the years.

In light of recent events, Mayor Wahab highlighted positive societal changes in Karachi, such as the reservation of City Council seats for disabled and transgender individuals. This measure promotes inclusion and diversity by ensuring equitable representation for all segments of the population in civic affairs.

In addition, the mayor lauded the Sindh government’s efforts to improve opportunities for disabled individuals, with a particular focus on enhancing their employment prospects.
