News sources said on September 26 that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to hire a private company to run and take care of Islamabad International Airport.
The decision was made because there had been a shortage of 100 workers for the past two years. The authorities were asked to fix the labour shortage, which was causing health problems. After the decision is made, the IIA will start the formal process of hiring a company to do the cleaning and maintenance work. The company will be in charge of its own staff, and their contracts will be renewed regularly if they do a good job. Since there have been no new hires and the policy has changed to let passengers bring visitors, problems with cleanliness have started to show up. It is thought that hiring a maintenance company will solve the problem.
IIA is one of the most recent airports built to international standards. It cost PKR 105 billion to build and opened in 2018. Because of problems with building and upkeep, the airport has had a lot of administrative problems. Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi District Administration said on September 27 that all the problems that have been holding up seven large infrastructure projects in the district will be fixed soon and work will begin on them before the end of the year (December 31).
The official statement also said that the projects that are already in progress will be sped up and finished by the deadline. These projects include the Dadocha Dam, the Chahan Dam Water Supply Scheme, the Leh Expressway, the Ring Road, the Khanpur Dam Water Supply Scheme, and a 123-kilometer Tourism Highway that will connect four mountainous areas of the district.
It was pointed out that the above projects have been stuck for more than a decade, which has caused the estimated costs to go up by 100–200%. Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi said that the situation has been told to Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Parvaiz Elahi and that meetings are being held with the relevant city departments to get the projects started as soon as possible.

The leading newspaper in Pakistan reported on September 28 that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi said that housing colonies for lawyers will be built in all of Punjab’s districts and tehsils.
The CM met with a group of Supreme Court judges led by Senator Barrister Ali Zafar, Imtiaz Rashid Siddiqui, and Abid Zubairi to talk about different legal issues. During the meeting, it was said that free medical care will be given to the lawyers’ families. He also said that the Public Defender Act would be put into place. Under this law, there will be room for up to 1,500 lawyers.
CM Elahi also said that a parking plaza and a service building for the public prosecution department will be built near the Shah Chiragh building. The minister also said that the Punjab Bar Council and hostel buildings would be fixed up.

News from September 29 says that the National Highway Authority (NHA) is working on the 83-kilometer-long Old Bannu Road in the District Bannu of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to make it wider and better.
A person from NHA, whose name was not given, said that the project in question was part of the Indus Highway and would be finished in stages. In the first package, the Frontier Works Organization was given the job of building the 40-kilometer Domail-Khurram section (FWO). 59% of the work has been done so far.
The contract for the second package, which is the 35-kilometer section from Khurram to Krapa, was also given to FWO. Due to a lack of money, the work is only 58% done right now. M/s NCC-IKAN-HRPL joint venture won the contract for the 8-kilometer Gaandi Chowk-Sarai Naurang section of the third package. The work on that part of the building is done.

Rawalpindi: On Monday, September 26, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) said that only the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the National Logistic Cell (NLC) will be able to compete for the Kutchery Chowk project, according to news sources.
Before, the RDA had asked four state-owned businesses to bid on the PKR 5.1 billion project to improve road infrastructure. But Railcop Private Limited (RPL) and National Construction Limited (NC), both of which are owned by the government, decided not to bid for the contract to build the project. Then, RPL told RDA that the company didn’t have enough experience to work on projects worth more than PKR 6 billion. On the other hand, the NC did not answer the letter from the RDA.
Officials from the RDA said that the project would cost more than PKR 6 billion, and that it would actually cost PKR 5.1 billion to build a “Y”-shaped flyover near DHA. The rest of the money has been set aside for moving utilities.
It’s important to remember that on September 22, RDA sent letters to four state-owned companies asking them to bid on the long-delayed Kutchery Road project under PPRA Rules 59. (e). Due to the importance of the project, only state-owned companies are allowed to bid on it according to the rule above.

Islamabad: News sources said that on Tuesday (September 27), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said that it would extend the deadline for taxpayers who were unhappy with tax clause 7E, which has to do with immovable property tax.
The FBR made this announcement in front of the Lahore High Court (LHC) during a hearing about a dispute over the legality of Section 7E (tax on deemed income) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, which was added by the Finance Act, 2022. In a written response to the LHC, the FBR said that the authority will extend the deadline for taxpayers who are having trouble with this specific paragraph and solve the problem. But the extension won’t be for everyone. For other taxpayers, the deadline will still be September 30.
It is important to remember that the FBR has set the deadline for filing income tax returns as September 30. So far, the government hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to give people more time. But large tax groups and chambers of commerce from all over the country have asked the FBR to extend the deadline, saying that floods are to blame.
Rawalpindi: The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab has made a seven-person committee to look at the development projects in the province, according to news from September 27.
Based on the details, the committee is put together to look at the projects and make sure they follow the rules for protecting the environment. It was said that the committee in question will look at the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for the projects in the province that aim to improve things. The committee will also make suggestions to the EPA Punjab Director General, who will use them to make the final decisions.
Supposedly, this group will look at the project sites and suggest ways to make them better.
