Preparation time for kutchery, Defence Chowk study extended

Preparation time for kutchery, Defence Chowk study extended. The Punjab Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering department has extended the feasibility study deadline. The time required to complete the overall design of the Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk flyovers and underpasses has been increased to eight months.

In a letter, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the provincial agency, extended the development period for the scheme named “Feasibility Study and Detailed Design for Remodeling of Kutchery and Defence Chowk.” According to sources, a top RDA official stated that National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) completed the feasibility study and design of two prominent squares to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. Additionally, he added that the government authorised funding to be included in its annual development programme. Kutchery Chowk’s annual cost was expected to be Rs3.6 billion. Defence Chowk is anticipated to cost Rs 2.2 billion.

The RDA chairman stated regarding the Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk that the decision to commence these projects consecutively was made based on the traffic load and the continuity of traffic flow. He claimed that construction of a two-story overpass at Kutchery Chowk will commence in early 2022. Following that, work on the Defence Chowk project would begin. Kutchery and Defence Chowk studies will have more preparation time.
