In a statement, the department said that any illegal housing projects started without first getting approval from the RUDA would be in violation of the RUDA Act 2020 and could face legal action.

The notice went on to say that the government would follow the law and take action against infrastructure built on government land. According to reports, the RUDA has also asked the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to stop mainstream media and social media platforms from promoting illegal housing schemes. It also told people to look into all housing schemes to avoid investing in scams.
