Chilas: According to a notice published in the national dailies on Tuesday, August 2, the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Public Works Department (PWD) has invited technical and financial proposals under the Quality-and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) method to prepare the Master Plan of Chilas and Astore Town-2050. The GB PWD will accept offers until 2 PM on August 29. At 2:30 PM on that same day, all bidders will be present as the GB PWD opens the bids.
The technical bids must include PKR 1 million in bid security in the form of a call deposit made by a Pakistani scheduled bank in the name of Superintending Engineer Circle GB PWD Diamer. The fact that technical bids without call deposits will be viewed as non-responsive and non-responsive bidders’ technical bids will be returned unread was emphasized. The applicants are asked to separate the technical bid and financial bid markings on each envelope. Rawalpindi: According to news reports on August 1, the Punjab government has accelerated work on the 123-kilometer modern signal-free tourism highway project. By March 2024, the 4.27 billion PKR project will be finished. The project contractor reportedly stated that 40 percent of the construction on the 32-kilometer-long portion from Pindori Chowk to Brure has been finished in a briefing to the local politicians. While the second phase of the project’s development will get underway in August.
The contractor added that in addition to creating multi-story, earthquake-resistant structures on both sides, all properties along the road will be turned into businesses. Along the roadway will also be erected industrial zones, modern parks, and picnic areas, in addition to educational institutions. The mentioned tourist highway will run from Pindori Chowk in Kalar Syedan to Lower Topa in Murree, according to Project Concept-1 (PC-1). The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) ordered all commercial banks to resume disbursing home loans under the Mera Pakistan, Mera Ghar (MPMG) plan on Tuesday, August 2, according to news reports in Karachi. For all cases approved before July 25, the fund disbursement will reopen.
Following the Ministry of Finance meeting, the SBP released a circular informing banks to reduce their spread over the Karachi Interbank Offered Rate so that payments to already-approved cases under the MPMG Scheme may resume (KIBOR). Additionally, SBP recommended candidates to contact SBP and file a complaint at servicedesk.sbp.org.pk if they run into problems with the application process. The central bank said in a series of tweets that it will closely monitor all instances to deal with any problem that might arise.
It’s important to remember that the government stopped funding under MPMG because to rising market policy rates and financial constraints. The funding halt took place from June 1 until August 31. The government is still working to make the loan terms and conditions more sustainable, according to the ministry.
