Gwadar International Airport will start operating in August 2024

Islamabad: With an investment of Rs51 billion, the new Gwadar International Airport will commence operations in August, according to a Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority spokesman.

A grant from China for Rs34 billion will be used for this. For Rs18.5 billion, the primary landing field of Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore was rebuilt and renovated in 2023 to accommodate Category F aircraft.

The Muridke Airport project will commence construction in the new year, and after its completion in 2024, the current Walton Airport will be relocated to that location.

To enhance passenger movement and reduce congestion, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi will undertake improvements to its outer and inner roadways.

There are plans to build a fire station and air traffic control structure at the Karachi International Airport. Dera Ismail Khan’s new-grade fleet airport construction will commence at a different site.

The airport in Sukkur will be expanded and improved. Its purpose is to support the primary runway of Karachi Jinnah Airport, and it is designed to accommodate F-categories of aircraft.

The terminal structure and extension mission at Allama Iqbal Airport will be completed in two and a half years.
