On March 17, a news source said that Caretaker Minister for Communications and Works and Excise Punjab Bilal Afzal said that the Kalma Chowk Underpass will be fully open to traffic on March 23, which is Pakistan Day.

After attending a review meeting to check on the progress of work on the Central Business District (CBD) Punjab Boulevard and Kalma Chowk Underpass, the minister is said to have shared this information. During the meeting, Imran Amin, who is the CEO of the Central Business District Authority (CBDA), and Riaz Hussain, who is the Chief Engineer of the CBDA, told the minister how development work was going.

Details show that the digging work on the Ali Zeb Road underpass will be done by March 19, and work on the road carpeting will begin on March 20. Minister Afzal told the people at the meeting that there should be no compromises on the project’s quality and that it should meet global safety standards. He also brought up the fact that there had been no accidents on such a big building site so far.

Later, he went to the construction site and told the people in charge to work day and night to finish the project on time.
