In his speech at the inauguration of the Bhara Kahu Bypass, the prime minister noted that the country’s eastern neighbor had made significant progress, but that Pakistan could also advance in accordance with Quaid-e-Azam’s vision, as pursued by Nawaz Sharif in the 1990s.

NLC began the project in October 2022 and completed it in nine months at a cost of Rs6.25 billion. Millions of commuters travelling to Murree, Kashmir, and Galliyat have been liberated from a significant bottleneck.

The prime minister, who inaugurated the initiative, stated that throughout his political career and all of his interactions, he had always sought to serve the public.

However, he stated that previous governments had wasted billions of rupees from the national treasury by impeding public projects, citing the Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant as an example of a project that was halted despite having spent billions of rupees that could have been used for public interest projects.

The prime minister referred to the opening of the Bahara Kahu bypass as a moment of gratification, stating that the project would make it easier for travellers from Islamabad, Punjab, and KP to reach AJK and Galliyat.

He stated that the project should have been completed years ago, but the incumbent conceived it and completed it in nine months despite obstacles such as a court-resolved land dispute with Quaid-e-Azam University.

The prime minister stated that he had set a three-month deadline for the project’s completion, which was also attainable in the absence of obstacles.

Shehbaz added that Bhara Kahu Bypass was also Nawaz Sharif’s vision, whose government was overthrown by the “worst conspiracy” and whose initiatives were thwarted.

He stated that the government completed the Metro Bus Project, which the previous PTI administration had suspended.

The premier went on to inform the crowd that after the inauguration of LCs, eco-friendly electric buses would be brought to Islamabad for the convenience of its residents.

Additionally, the prime minister instructed the CDA to plant one million trees around the Bhara Kahu Bypass, although approximately 70,000 trees have already been planted.

Shehbaz also thanked the party leadership for their support and contribution to the initiative and instructed the CDA to “beautify Islamabad as Azerbaijan’s Baku.”

In her address, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, recalled the accomplishments made by Shehbaz over the past fifteen months.

She stated that the prime minister was successful in reviving the development path begun by the PML-N government during its previous term but obstructed by the PTI government.

The minister added that for the convenience of the public, all Islamabad Metro routes have been connected to the airport and residential areas.

CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal stated that Rs20 billion was being allocated for the development of Islamabad’s rural areas.

In the rural region, 55 parks and Sunday bazaars are being established, he said.
