Tomorrow, CM Elahi will open the Shahkam Flyover Project

On October 12, news sources said that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi will start the Shahkam Flyover Project on Thursday (tomorrow).

The approved design for the project says that the three-lane, one-way flyover is 600 metres long and can handle 120,000 vehicles every day. The project connects the traffic on Multan Road, in Jubilee Town, and on Canal Road. The budget for the project was PKR 4.989 billion, and it was supposed to be finished in March.

The much-delayed flyover project was supposed to open in March, just before Eid-ul-Adha, so that it could handle the extra traffic on Eid days. But because building costs went up over time, the project was put off by seven months. The bridge is now ready to be used after finishing touches and making it look nice.

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has asked for a lot of money to build flyovers, signal-free corridors, and underpasses in the city’s busiest areas to help with the traffic problems that are getting worse. The projects are supposed to start in this development year.
