It’s said that the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) was given permission by Prime Minister Imran Khan to build the Leh Expressway and a sewage treatment plant for the city of Rawalpindi in the area of Nullah Leh on Sunday (March 20). Kabul: China welcomes Afghanistan’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, a global infrastructure plan proposed by China. China is willing to push for the CPEC to be extended to Afghanistan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday as he made a surprise visit to Kabul.
According to a statement from an Afghan foreign ministry spokesman, people from both countries talked about how to improve their political and economic ties, including how to start mining and how Afghanistan might be able to help China with its Belt and Road infrastructure project.
Wang said on Thursday that China was willing to help Afghanistan become a bridge between China and the rest of the world by extending the CPEC to the country.
He also said that China hoped that Afghanistan would keep its promise not to let outside forces use its land to fight its neighbours or harm the security of other countries.
Wang went to Kabul on Thursday, a spokesman for Afghanistan’s foreign ministry said. Taliban took power last year, and it came a day after many people around the world were angry about the group closing down girls’ high schools.
When the Taliban took Afghanistan in August, only a few countries sent a minister. China is one of them. Pakistan and Qatar have also sent a minister to Afghanistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the foreign minister of Pakistan, gave his speech at the 48th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which started on Tuesday in Islamabad. The situation of pensioners who work for Pakistan Railways, the country’s largest state-owned company, is getting worse. It’s possible that not all of the pensioners will get their delayed monthly pension this month because the finance ministry hasn’t released the full amount.

In the next few months, Pakistan Railways (PR) might not be able to pay pensions to retired workers and their widows unless the finance ministry gives them the rest.
In the past, the government has turned down a plan to set up a pension fund.
People who have talked to them say that the rail ministry is in talks with the finance ministry about taking over the payment of pensions for rail workers, just like other government departments and civil servants get their pensions. If this is the case, no decision has so far been made in this case.
March 1 was when the secretary of transportation asked for the transfer of pension payments for Pakistani Railway workers to the Controller General Accounts and Auditor General for Pakistan Revenue. This is what the letter said. Another thing the letter said was that the pension payment roll was ready for the transfer of pension on March 1. However, the account for pensions doesn’t have enough money in it, and the finance ministry doesn’t seem to care.
About 125,000 PR pensioners were mentioned in the letter to the finance secretary. The letter warned that the situation could lead to unrest among the pensioners, which could be embarrassing for the government. This would be a bad thing for them. It will also be against Supreme Court orders if the pension payment isn’t made on time.
“The Finance Division has not agreed to the Railway Ministry’s request for Rs4.500 billion,” the letter said. “The Finance Division has not agreed to the Railway Ministry’s request for funds,” the letter said.
There is still no decision from the ministries of rail and finance. Pensioners, especially low-paid and widowed ones, are still having problems getting their money on time. It has been said that two commercial banks that are supposed to pay pensions haven’t yet received scrolls that say how much money they should pay.
It’s because of official holidays that all banks are closed, so pension payments won’t be possible until the banks open again.
There was a proposal from the railways ministry to make it easier for pensioners to be paid directly like other government workers. The finance ministry hasn’t yet made a decision on the proposal.
Already, the government has said no to setting up a pension fund for people who work for Pakistan Railways. In this case, a company hired by Pakistan Railways to help with the project came up with a plan for how to set up a pension fund.
The goal of setting up the fund was to cover the costs of pensions for employees in the future. There has been a lot of delay in setting up the pension fund, so there hasn’t been a pension reserve until now. The lack of a credible estimate of pension liabilities has also made it difficult for the government to make changes to the way it spends money on pensions.
People who work for Pakistan Railways have a Defined Benefit (DB) pension plan that they pay for as they go. In the absence of a pension fund, the federal government is now paying for the pension costs of Pakistan Railways.

The IsDB approves a $180 million loan for the Mohmand Dam Islamabad’s Islamic Development Bank signed framework agreements Monday to loan Pakistan $180 million for the Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project. The loans will be used to build a hydroelectric dam (MDHP).
It was signed by Secretary of Economic Affairs Mian Asad Hayaud Din and the special adviser to the President of IsDB Mohammad Jamal Al-Satti.
It was also attended by IsDB President Dr Muhammad Al Jasser, who is in Pakistan for three days to attend the 48th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the OIC. Dr. Al Jasser also met with Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan and talked about things they both care about, an official statement said.
Both sides talked about how Pakistan and the IsDB will work together in the future. They agreed to keep giving Pakistan technical and financial help.
For a total of $180m, they signed three framework agreements. They were for financing for Rs310bn worth of MDHP. The construction contract for the project was handed to a consortium of China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC) and Abdul Razak Dawood’s Descon Engineering in 2019. Construction began in September 2019 and will be finished by December 2025.
MDHP is a multi-purpose concrete-faced rockfill dam that is being built on the Swat River in the Mohmand District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is about 48 kilometres from Peshawar and 5 kilometres upstream of Munda Head Works. People in Peshawar, Pakistan, will get 13.32 cubic metres of clean drinking water and more than 6,000 jobs due to this project. It will generate 1,300 megawatts of electricity and increase Pakistan’s water storage capacity by 1,293 million acre-feet (MAF).
Dr Muhammad Al Jasser, the head of the bank, said that the bank took great pride in working with its partners to help Pakistan with a project of national significance. The Arab Coordination Group and Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority are working together to build a multi-purpose dam that will not only provide more energy and water but also improve the lives of the people living near it and protect them from flooding.
The signing of the framework agreements for the Mohmand Dam and Hydropower Plant project shows that Pakistan and the IsDB Group have been working together for a long time. This is in line with Pakistan’s priorities and the IsDB Group’s promise to invest more in climate-friendly projects, the ISDB chief said.

On Monday, the Supreme Court told the city administration to demolish a lot of wedding halls that were built illegally on Korangi Road, so they did.
Operation: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), and district municipal corporation-Korangi all worked together to carry out the project.
A government official said that there were more than 40 wedding halls to be demolished because of the Supreme Court’s order. The operation would go on until the job was done.
The Supreme Court demolished wedding halls in January because they were built on land that was meant for residential use only, the court said.
The supreme court told the owners of marriage halls that their applications would not be heard and that the land should be used for residential purposes again.
It used to be that a group of people from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, led by then-chief justice Gulzar Ahmed, had told the Karachi commissioner to tear down the illegal wedding halls.
