The health department has been given free use of the prime land next to the Arfa Karim Tower. Sources say that the land was given to the health department in exchange for the amount of PKR 2.033 billion, which had to be paid before February 1, 2022. But the department didn’t put the money in the bank, so the land was taken away.

Later, the land was given to the department for free, and the decision was made official at a meeting of the provincial cabinet led by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi. The CM asked the LDA to work with the health department to reduce the amount of land needed for the hospital by building it up.

It’s important to know that the land is a part of the 122-kanal section that the LDA bought for PKR 8.08 billion in 2017. Out of all the land, 57.15 kanals will be used to build the hospital, 15 kanals will be used to build the IT tower, and 36 kanals will be used by the LDA.
