Six additional dams will be constructed in Rawalpindi by 2022

Six additional dams will be constructed in Rawalpindi by 2022. The Punjab government has approved the construction of six additional dams in Rawalpindi. The development will begin in 2022. Dadocha Dam, Papin Dam, Mahutta Dam, Mujahid Dam, Chahan Dam, and Jawa Dam are among the dams included in the project, anticipated to cost PKR 14.70 billion.

The administration has already committed funding to Annual Development Program initiatives (ADP). According to accounts, work on the Mujahid Dam has already begun. The following table summarizes the project’s financial allocations:

Mohata Dam, located in union council Raika, would cost PKR 500 million and will irrigate 45,000 acres of land.
Mujahid Dam, expected to cost PKR 500 million, would be built in the Chauntra area, irrigating an estimated 70,000 acres of land. By 2022, a total of six more dams will be completed in Rawalpindi.

Jawa Dam in Murree will cost PKR 900 million. The feasibility study and Phase I of the project have been completed, and work is scheduled to begin shortly.

The Chahan Dam has already been completed, and work has begun on enhancing its water storage capacity.
