Mega-city master plan for “New Peshawar Valley” receives final approval. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) “New Peshawar Valley” master plan has been given the final go-ahead by the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA). This was reported by news sources on June 5. The 1.86,400-kanal megacity will have places to live, do business, and have fun, all with the most modern facilities.

At the 8th board meeting on Saturday, it was said that the first part of the project was given the go-ahead (June 04). In the first phase, 62,056 residential plots of different sizes have been proposed. There are 16,312 3-marla plots, 17,201 5-marla plots, 3402 7-marla plots, 9,526 10-marla plots, 13,415 1-kanal plots, 1494 2-kanal plots, and 706 4-kanal plots.

Also, about 8,000 kanals of land have been set aside for the supply of residential plots based on need. Also, it was said that the housing project will be built on more than 1,864,000 kanals of land, with 41% of the land used for residential plots and flats and 28% for road infrastructure. Also, 16% of the area would be used for parks and open spaces, 7% for public buildings, and 5% for commercial operations and parking.

Minister provides development update for Mohmand Dam

According to news that came out on June 3, Federal Minister for Water Resources Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that 20% of the work on Mohmand Dam was done.

The federal minister went to the dam site to check on how the building was going. He said the project would not be done for another four years and hoped it would be done by the deadline. Shah, in charge of water resources, also said that work was going on at four other dams, which would give the country enough water sources to meet its own needs.

In the same way, Omar Liaquat Randhawa, a BPS-18 officer in the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), has been given the job of DDG Land. Afnan Alam was in charge of DDG Land and Estate in the past. Abdul Razzaq is now a CDA BPS-19 Executive Cadre officer and has been given the job of Director of Estate Residential.

LDA seeks for PKR 202 bn development budget for FY-23

LDA seeks for PKR 202 bn development budget for FY-23. News sources said on May 31 that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has made a development budget of PKR 202 billion for the fiscal year (FY) 2022-23. The final draught of the budget has been sent to the Punjab government for final approval.

According to reports, the LDA gave the Punjab Secretary of Housing, Asad Rehman Gilani, a briefing on the budget in order to finish the city’s ongoing development projects. According to the LDA, the city is working on the following projects, which are listed in the budget document:

The project to build the Canal Tram will cost PKR 69 billion.
The Gulberg Elevated Expressway project will cost PKR 64 billion to build.
PKR 35 billion will be used to fix up Canal Road.
PKR 35 billion to build a road from the Expocenter to the Canal Road
PKR 29 billion will be used to fix up and rebuild roads in Lahore.
PKR 4.5 billion will be used to fix up Raiwind Road.

Government resumes the construction of the Naulong Dam in Baluchistan

Government resumes the construction of the Naulong Dam in Baluchistan. According to news that was published on May 31, the province government of Baluchistan has resumed building on the Naulong Dam, which would irrigate 47,000 acres of dry land and create 4.4 megawatts (MW) of energy. According to the information provided, the process of building the dam has already been sped up. In accordance with the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Water Resources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has transferred PKR 1,916 million to the Water and Power Development Authority in order to fund the construction of the dam (WAPDA). The detailed design of the project as well as the feasibility study have both been finished by the authorities. The issues that had been lingering in relation to the Naulong Dam have also been fixed.

After the dam is finished being constructed, the yearly benefits to the power sector will be PKR 0.413 billion, the annual benefits to the agriculture sector will be PKR 2.017 billion, and the annual benefits to fisheries will be PKR 0.018 billion. The building of the Naulong Dam will contribute to the creation of 23,500 jobs in the agriculture sector. In addition to this, it will be useful in preventing flooding in the catchment areas. The water that is stored behind the Naulong Dam will be used to irrigate the land in the surrounding area, specifically Gandawa, Khuzdar, and Jhal Magsi.
