Islamabad: On January 12, news sources said that the federal government had decided to do something about the “illegal occupation” of 10 properties owned by the Abandoned Properties Organization (APO).

After the illegal occupants are removed, the properties of former Pakistanis who moved to Bangladesh after 1971 will be given to new owners and used for different things. In this case, a summary has been sent to the federal government for final approval by the Cabinet Division. Reports say that the federal government will take steps to make sure the properties are managed and run according to the Abandoned Properties (Management) Act of 1975 and the federal government’s instructions.

The federal cabinet is likely to approve a set of plans, including one that says one of the 10 houses could be set aside for the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, who doesn’t have any official housing in the city.
