France will fund Lahore Fort and buffer zone renovations

The Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) are said to have signed a deal (French Development Agency). Under HURL, the French bank will help with 22 million euros over the course of five years. The project includes fixing up Lahore Fort and the area around it. More cameras to increase coverage of Islamabad’s Safe City Project

In order to make Islamabad “one of the safest cities in Pakistan,” the federal government is excited to add more cameras to the city so that the Safe City Project can cover all of it, up from 30 percent now.

At a press conference, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the safe city project currently covers at least 30% of Islamabad, but that soon, when more cameras are installed, the project will cover the whole capital.

The minister said that more cameras would be put up in “all the important places.” He also said that Rs40 million had been given to the Safe City Authority right away to help it meet its immediate needs.

According to the PML-N leader, the chief of police in Islamabad and the head of the Safe City Authority have been told to make a report on whether or not the project can be expanded.

The minister said that once the feasibility report was done, money would be sent to the project within a week.

Sources said that the city police had been trying for a long time to get more CCTV cameras and more people to help with the Safe City Project. They said that the Islamabad Safe City Project had asked for 4,000 more cameras to be put up in the city.

“Since the Safe City Project started many years ago, Islamabad has grown quickly in size and population,” the project’s leaders said. They also said that 1,905 cameras had already been set up in different parts of the capital.

Also, the project started out by helping the police find and identify criminals when the operation division and investigation wing asked for help.

But its role has changed now that its employees have been told to help the Islamabad police cut down on crime.

The interior minister also said that the government would do everything it could to end “police culture” in Islamabad and put cameras in police stations to make sure that the police are accountable. “No one would be allowed to use torture in police stations, and it would not be tolerated,” he said.

Based on the details, the Revenue and Field Officers will look over the record and make a new list of the illegal housing projects that are running without permission from the government. The government has set up a two-step approval process for private housing schemes, which includes the no objection certificate (NOC) and approval after the layout plan is submitted. It came out that the process has 19 main steps and 29 smaller ones.

Also, it can take up to 2.5 years for the government agency to give the NOC. After the NOC is given, development work can begin, and it could take up to 20 years to finish. Since the government hasn’t built any new housing areas in the last few decades, the private sector has had to step up to meet the rising demand for housing in the city.

A person from the district administration, whose name was not given, said that once the list is made, the illegal housing societies will have to stop all development work or face strict legal action. He also said that the government has come up with a way for people to find out if a housing project is legal before they invest in it.

Mr. Ahmed said at the opening ceremony that when the Bungalow Babusar Track opens, tourists will be able to visit the historic APA House, the Old Bungalow Bazaar, and other tourist spots in the area. This will also help the area’s economy because more and more tourists will come to visit.

He also said that Babusar is a popular place for tourists and that a lot of locals and tourists pass through it every day. When a new route opens, it will make tourism even better. Former Rawalpindi ring road commissioner, collector indicted

On Wednesday, a special anti-corruption court in LAHORE charged retired Capt. Muhammad Mahmood Rai, who was Rawalpindi’s former commissioner, and Waseem Tabish, who was in charge of getting land for the city, in the ring road scam.

Both of the accused officers pleaded “not guilty,” and on July 14, the court told the prosecution to bring in its witnesses.

The accused officers were in court with their lawyer, Burhan Moazam Malik. They were out on bail.

The lawyer said that his clients’ case was made up by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

He said that the former chief minister had set up a three-person committee to look into the situation. Two of the committee members cleared the accused officers of the charges, while the third member suggested that a first information report (FIR) be filed against them.

The ACE said that the former commissioner and the person in charge of getting land caused the national exchequer to lose more than Rs10 billion because they let five interchanges be built on the ring road by big developers of housing societies.

It said that Nova Housing Society sold a file for Rs10 million and made a total of Rs1.5 billion by selling files. People who are close to the former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar are thought to own the society.

In a recent development, the federal government cleared 13 bureaucrats, including Mr. Mahmood and Mr. Tabish, in a departmental inquiry into the scandal.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had asked for the charges against the government officers to be looked into again. The investigation showed that they were not guilty.

On July 6, news sources said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have agreed to work together to send tax notices to 7 million high-income people who don’t file taxes. The NADRA will share information with the FBR so that assets in their names can be used to find people who don’t file.

Reports say that the government has agreed to let the FBR use data from the NADRA database, as required by the FBR Finance Act-2022. The recently passed act says that the FBR will get information from NADRA that will be used to estimate the wealth of the country’s 7 million high-earning people who don’t pay taxes. Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used by NADRA to estimate a person’s income based on their fixed assets, utility bills, and account transactions. The FBR will use the data to figure out how much money will be coming in.

Tax notices will also be sent to people who don’t pay. Reports say that if someone doesn’t follow FBR rules or pay the right amount of tax, the FBR will be able to freeze bank accounts and attach properties until the right amount is paid. It is important to remember that the FBR and NADRA have already agreed to share data. For the fiscal year 2022-23, the government has also set a tax goal of PKR 7.4 trillion.
