PM Khan will lay the groundwork for the capital’s road project. According to recent news sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan will lay the foundation stone for the rehabilitation of the Balkasar to Mianwali and Mianwali to Muzaffargarh road projects on Saturday. The route is 415 kilometers long, 286 kilometers between Mianwali and Muzaffargarh, and 129 kilometers between Balkasar and Mianwali. The National Highway Authority (NHA) will oversee the road project’s repair, which would cost PKR 13.8 billion. The federal government would provide PKR 12.4 billion, while the NHA would contribute PKR 1.38 billion through a road maintenance account.

The route is scheduled to open within the next 12 months. The studies showed that the project was divided into ten segments of 40 kilometers each to ensure prompt completion. The road project’s technical bids are being evaluated, and once they are complete, the finance bids will be opened.

According to the IWMB, the MHNP is the third-largest national park in the world. It is home to various wildlife, including 38 mammalian species, 350 bird species, 32 reptile species, 9 amphibian species, and 650 plant species.

CDA will construct a three-kilometer section of Rawalpindi Ring Road. The Punjab government and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have resolved a dispute over the creation of a three-kilometer section of Rawalpindi Ring Road inside the twin cities’ jurisdiction.

The Punjab government and the CDA had a virtual meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. Amer Ali Ahmed, Chairman of the CDA, was also present. The meeting resolved that the CDA will construct the section of road and an interchange. However, the Punjab government will bear the cost of any work carried out inside the province’s jurisdiction.

A portion of Ring Road will connect M-1 to GT Road in the vicinity of Sangjani. It will also be connected to Islamabad’s Margalla Road via an interchange. Another interchange will be built on N-5 in Wapda Town.

Later that year, in February 2021, Prime Minister Imran Khan backed the CDA’s position and said that the CDA would construct the road segment that falls under its jurisdiction.

In the vicinity of Sangjani, a segment of Ring Road will connect M-1 to GT Road. It will also be connected by an interchange to Islamabad’s Margalla Road. On N-5 in Wapda Town, another interchange will be constructed.

The meeting determined that both parties would independently acquire land in their respective regions, but the CDA would construct. According to CDA officials, 1.6 kilometer of the road are within Islamabad’s city limits, while 1.8 kilometers are within Punjab.

Modifications to the Kareem Block market underpass project envisioned by the LDA. The Lahore Development Authority (LDA), which is situated in Allama Iqbal Town, has altered the construction plan of the Kareem Block Underpass project. The primary reason is to avert the University of Punjab from acquiring land that it currently possesses.

The design incorporates a new function for adding a barrel in the underpass. From Wahdat Road, the underpass will lead to the canal and Bhekewal Mor. Additionally, the authority would acquire an additional 3 kanal of land from the bank, bringing the project’s total cost to Rs 2.70 billion.

There are two options and one will be chosen. The first option is to construct an underpass that converts the intersection’s signal-free route into a signal-free route. Here, traffic from Multan Road to Bhekewal Road will be permitted.

The second alternative proposes the construction of a three-legged flyover to connect Multan Road to Canal Road and Bhekewal Mor.

Mr. Mazhar Hussain Khan, LDA chief, submits the final project, Concept-1 (PC-1), to the government for approval.

Preparation time for kutchery, Defence Chowk study extended. The Punjab Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering department has extended the feasibility study deadline. The time required to complete the overall design of the Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk flyovers and underpasses has been increased to eight months.

In a letter, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the provincial agency, extended the development period for the scheme named “Feasibility Study and Detailed Design for Remodeling of Kutchery and Defence Chowk.” According to sources, a top RDA official stated that National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) completed the feasibility study and design of two prominent squares to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. Additionally, he added that the government authorised funding to be included in its annual development programme. Kutchery Chowk’s annual cost was expected to be Rs3.6 billion. Defence Chowk is anticipated to cost Rs 2.2 billion.

The RDA chairman stated regarding the Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk that the decision to commence these projects consecutively was made based on the traffic load and the continuity of traffic flow. He claimed that construction of a two-story overpass at Kutchery Chowk will commence in early 2022. Following that, work on the Defence Chowk project would begin. Kutchery and Defence Chowk studies will have more preparation time.
