Met Office, flooding and landslides are forecast in the country

Under the impact of solid monsoon currents, the Met Office has forecast rain and thundershowers in various parts of Pakistan starting today (Thursday). Under the influence of this weather system, which is predicted to remain through Sunday, it has warned of rain-induced landslides, flash floods, and urban flooding in upper areas of the country.

Dera Ghazi Khan and eastern Baluchistan may experience hill torrents on Sunday and Monday, according to a warning issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday.

On Saturday and Sunday, heavy rains could cause flash flooding in nullahs in Shangla, Buner, Batgtaram, Mansehra, Balakot, Abbottabad, Swat, Kohistan Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, and Narowal, according to the Met Office.

Under the influence of monsoon currents, hill torrents are expected in Dera Ghazi Khan and eastern Baluchistan on Sunday and Monday. The PMD also forecasted rain-induced landslides in “vulnerable parts of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” throughout the forecast period and urban flooding Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Peshawar.

All relevant agencies should “remain ALERT during the forecast timeframe,” according to the Met Office.

PM Imran Khan says the government will construct 10 dams

Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that the government has decided to construct 10 dams to increase Pakistan’s water storage capacity, generate additional resources, and protect future generations.

The minister said at the opening of fifth extension of Tarbela Dam  project that, “The Mohmand and Bhasha dams will be built by 2025 and 2028, respectively.”

“Jacobabad is known as the world’s warmest city and has the highest temperature,” the premier stated at a ceremony commemorating the occasion.

The prime minister used Jacobabad as an example, stating that it was necessary to develop energy that did not contribute to global warming. The extension project, according to the premier, will aid in the creation of clean electricity. “By 2030, the majority of electricity generated will be clean electricity.”

“Our focus,” he continued, “should be on making power from water, solar, or wind resources, rather than burning fossil fuels,” he stated.

PM Imran further stated that the move would assist extend the life of the Tarbela dam by flushing out sand and silt that has accumulated barely four miles from the dam. He also stressed the significance of completing the Dasu and Bhasha dams on time.

The Prime Minister lamented the fact that none of the previous governments had considered similar ideas. “They signed expensive electrical capacity payment contracts, causing the country to lose money.” He pointed out that the US may learn from China to make long-term goals for the next 20 to 30 years. But, he said, “This is the key to their success.”

Farrukh Habib, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, has previously stated on Twitter that they would finish the project by 2024. He also stated that the project would increase the electricity generation of dam capacity from 4,888 megawatts to 6,418 megawatts, increasing by 1,530 megawatts.
The Diamer Basha Dam, Dasu Hydropower, Mohmand Dam, Kurram Tangi Dam, Nai Gaj Dam, Sindh Barrage, Kachhi Canal, and K-IV water supplies are all in the works, according to Habib.

During a meeting, Baluchistan Finance Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi said to sign a tripartite agreement to construct an online tax collection system to help taxpayers in the province and ensure system transparency. Implementing an online tax system will eventually lead to long-term reforms in the provincial government’s income generation.

The finance department has launched an online tax system, following Baluchistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal’s objective to reduce the state’s budget deficit and improve business opportunities. According to the province minister, the outdated tax system is being computerized, allowing people to pay taxes to the Baluchistan government from anywhere in the country.

He would collect sales tax on services through an alternate delivery channel that would offer consumers facilities in the first phase. Buledi described the implementation of the system as historic, claiming that tax payments could now be made via online banking, mobile banking, ATMs, simple paisa, and other modern methods while avoiding suspicion.

Despite Ghani’s charges, the outlook of Islamabad remains positive: Qureshi, Foreign Minister

Afghan President Ghani’s has continued his claims against Pakistan, but the outlook of Islamabad remains positive. The FM stated, “We want things to improve in Afghanistan, adding that the Afghan people desire peace as well.

According to him, Pakistan has played positive role in the Afghan peace process, and he went on to say that a Pakistani delegation is now in Doha participating in peace talks. He said. “No one can deny our constructive contribution and efforts for peace, and the world is appreciating Pakistan’s conciliatory efforts for Afghan peace today.’’

According to the foreign minister, unnamed forces in the region are working against peace and must be monitored. “Attempts are being made to blame Pakistan for the crisis in Afghanistan,” he added, adding that a force outside of Afghanistan is “playing spoiler.”

According to the minister, Pakistan is part of a global consensus, and shares the same “objective” of peace and the outlook remains positive. “We shall keep working for peace and positive attributes.” Pakistan’s stance on the matter was explained by FM Qureshi, who reiterated that Pakistan had “no favorites in Afghanistan.”

“It would have been attained if there had been a military solution to the Afghan crisis. “However, no such military answer has surfaced,” According to the foreign minister, Pakistan is in contact with Afghanistan’s neighbors and wants to develop an “integrated strategy” for peace.

“We are concerned about Afghanistan’s rising bloodshed. However, he emphasized that “all countries in the area must work together for peace.”

He said, “We do not want to meddle in Afghanistan’s internal issues, but we are ready and eager to outlook the good and positive neighbor.”

FM Qureshi also mentioned installing fencing on the Pak-Afghan border to prevent “unwanted elements” from crossing. “Every day, 25,000 to 30,000 individuals cross the border, and we don’t want dangerous elements to enter Pakistan and exacerbate the country’s situation,” adding that he should monitor border movement.

When asked about India’s role in the crisis, the foreign minister said that the country’s behavior at the UN Security Council meeting was “regrettable” and that the international community and the Council should have noticed.  “Pakistan is not a Security Council member, but it is more affected by the situation in Afghanistan and has already paid a high price. Pakistan will be the first to be affected if the situation in Afghanistan escalates.’’

Also, according to the foreign minister, Pakistan is ‘wary but unconcerned’ as India takes over the UN Security Council presidency in August. Pakistan intended to make its case before the Security Council, according to the FM. But, on the other hand, “unfortunately did not adopt a responsible attitude” as chair of the Security Council.

PM has called for the growth of beach and coastline tourism in Baluchistan and has emphasized the importance of developing beach and coastline tourism by fully exploring the untapped tourism potential of various places, resulting in significant cash generation. The prime minister told a crowd of locals following a tree-planting drive and inspection of the mangrove forest at the Sonmiani beach that it was the government’s role to improve people’s living circumstances by making significant reforms.

He noted that each place has its unique features. Therefore, they should focus on tourism spots that might draw Muslim people worldwide, and the growth of beach and coastline tourism would increase.

The government intends to develop beach and coastline tourism and will seek scientific advice from qualified consultants in this regard, he said, adding that the hilly or mountainous areas were created by the British during their rule, but that these areas were slowly degrading, citing Murree as an example of a town that had undergone significant changes as a result of massive construction.

He stated that the government was creating new hilly terrains and investigating other attractive areas for the first time to attract as many tourists as possible.

The prime minister stated that the country’s coastline was still undeveloped. He highlighted preserving and expanding mangrove forests, which absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen in large quantities.

The prime minister highlighted the need to properly developing and arranging these contributions. Once these locations are developed as tourist destinations, they will help improve the locals’ lives by creating jobs and providing better education and health care.

The prime minister stated that the world was suffering severe climatic consequences, such as flooding and forest fires, in several parts of the planet.

Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that Pakistan had already taken the lead in global efforts to mitigate climate change. The growth of beaches will prove helpful in this regard.

According to the prime minister, a recent report by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a group of scientists, human activities were changing the world’s temperature in an unprecedented way, warning that the temperature rise would make the planet uninhabitable if the world community did not take immediate measures.

Baluchistan lacked progress and development due to the previous federal governments’ lack of interest, adding that the earlier rulers preferred to live in London rather than travel to these neglected places. He went on to say that the Baloch leaders were likewise unconcerned.

The federal government was spending Rs1 trillion for the development of Balochistan for the first time in the country’s history. He said that such a sum had never been granted or spent in the province and that Balochistan’s prosperity was linked to the country’s overall development.

Khan also declared that an extra 12,000 acres in Balochistan would be set aside for mangrove forests. This significant statement was made as part of the nationwide “Ten Billion Tree Tsunami” campaign.

According to PM, Pakistan is the only country on the planet with a growing mangrove cover that stretches from the Indus delta to the coastal parts of Balochistan. These unique ocean-growing trees were not only the guardians of the coast but also one of the essential weapons for carbon sequestration, according to a briefing provided by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam. Because they store four times as much carbon as typical forests, they are a valuable natural resource for Pakistan and the rest of the world, which is feeling the effects of climate change.

The prime minister also visited with local Nighabaans, who have been instrumental in protecting and expanding mangroves of Baluchistan.

The court ordered the Capital Development Authority and the IWMB to “immediately fulfill their respective statutory tasks by detecting and removing illegal encroachments in the defined region of the National Park.”

The court further ordered the interior secretary to help these officials restore the designated area of the National Park and hold those who have breached its notified boundaries accountable.

“No one is above the law,” Chief Justice Minallah declared.

Provincial ministers and MNAs such as Muhammad Basharat Raja, Rashid Hafiz, and Sadaqat Ali Abbasi were present. In a press conference held at Governor’s House in Rawalpindi, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar stated that the PTI government wished to offer clean drinking water to all areas without party affiliation which is the primary concern of this Aab-e-Pak project

We will start 116 water supply projects in the Rawalpindi division under the ‘Aab Pak Authority’ guise to alleviate the water deficit. According to him, these projects will cost Rs270 million to complete. He also stated that they would install filtration plants in the territories of opposing parties. We intended to fulfill all essential needs without political prejudice because we worked under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision.

He claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan had tasked him with ensuring that Punjab has clean drinking water. However, he claims that 80% of the population is drinking contaminated water. Several departments are striving to deliver water, but it is in vain, according to him.

To reduce illness ratios, we needed to establish filtration plants in all locations which is the basic plan of the Aab-e-Pak project. Unfortunately, even after a year, we have not been able to constitute a Water Board Authority. He noted that an ordinance was required to handle all water-related issues.

He stated that if the Prime Minister provided him with a sewerage system, he would renew the entire Punjab sewerage system. He said that the ‘Aab Pak Authority’ has a comprehensive plan to provide Punjab with clean drinking water. The Aab-e-Pak project will serve the best in the interest of people.
